Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is a public liberal arts university located in Edinboro, which is a borough in Erie County, in the US state of Pennsylvania, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 7000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.
Edinboro University was established in 1857 and it is one of the 14 schools within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, also known as simply MSACS, and currently has over 8000 enrolled students.
Edinboro's athletic teams are known as the Fighting Scots and they compete in NCAA Division II, in 14 intercollegiate sports, among which there are: football, soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball and swimming. Their distinctive colors are red and white.
